Club news

Discussions have been held with the managers of the Provincial WebShop which is on the Provincial Website. Changes are currently being made whereby the entire operation will become more commercial.

As a consequence, my suggestion that we feature one or two items in the shop with a link inviting people to visit MasonicArtsandCrafts.com to see many more works is not, for technical reasons, doable.

One possible alternative would be to have an item of which many copies exist, a print, photo or piece of craft work which can be replicated. In such a case we might be able to sell through the shop at the same time extend our presence and raise our profile. Any suggestions anyone?

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether we could be part of the “Made in Yorkshire” organisation.   Similarly see item 4 where the possibility of exhibiting in the Wakefield Art Walk is suggested.

Any opportunity to interact with the “Popular world” must be beneficial to our group and assist in the normalisation of Freemasonry. Similarly if we exhibit in the Wakefield Art Walk  we will also get those benefits.

Edvard Kiurkchian   Paintings in Acrylic and Epoxy Resin

Edvard Kiurkchian began exploring fluid art during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as an experiment with children’s paints soon became a passionate creative outlet. Today, his work blends acrylics, epoxy resin, metallic powders, and gilding techniques He uses swipe techniques and controlled spinning to produce pieces rich in movement, depth, and symbolism.

Above is “Britannia”
Inspired by his connection to Britannia Lodge No. 139, this work celebrates identity, strength, and continuity. Combining deep ocean blues with golden shores, the central figure of Britannia is rendered in metallic leaf and set in rich green epoxy.

Above is “Beautiful Depression”
This piece was created during lockdown in 2020 and reflects the conflicting emotions of that time — inner turbulence met with a strange sense of beauty and calm. The dynamic blend of crimson and turquoise, layered with black and white lacing, captures a sense of internal conflict dissolving into something more balanced.

Photography and Video

David Hockney  long ago embraced using technology to create his art. Making visual 'collages' with still and video cameras to  capture the way in which he sees scenes in real life.

He currently has an Exhibition at the Science and Media Museum in Bradford which Closes  18th May

These works push the boundaries of how film and photographic technologies can record images with a true-to-life sense of time, scale and perspective.  Tickets can be bought from

www.ScienceandMediaMuseum.org.uk

Wakefield Art Walk Exhibition

Those on the WhatsApp group will already know that our member Neil Horne is also a member of the Wakefield Art Club. They successfully exhibited on 26th March Making two sales. After this success they have been invited to exhibit again.

These exhibitions are organised by Wakefield Artwalk  http://artwalkwakefield.org

The next events will be held on;   Wed 28 May,  Wed 30 Jul,  Wed 24 Sep and  Wed 26 Nov. They are free to enter.

These are mainly evening events starting at about 4.00 p.m. and closing about 9.00p.m.

It would be an excellent opportunity to take WRMAC to the public area, help to normalise Freemasonry and hopefully make some sales. Please let me know if you would like to make up a group to exhibit there.

Art and the NHS

The campaign, Art for Health, encourages people to submit high quality digital pictures of their art, whether it be paintings, drawings, photography or crafts.

Kate Wood, of  Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust  is the Community Engagement Manager. She said the art would help patients experiencing mental health issues or conditions such as dementia.

Also, as part of the Art For Health scheme, the trust is asking the community to paint or write something positive on a rock and place it outside one of its buildings to create outdoor art galleries. To learn more about the Art for Health Scheme visit www.paintingsinhospitals.org.uk

An art exhibition featuring 23 original works is set to open across Bradford.

The Yorkshire West Methodist District of the Methodist Church is bringing the exhibition, "Everything is Connected," to the city this autumn.
